As a choral conductor Matthew has worked as guest MD, conducted “Come and Sing” days and delivered individual workshops with many choirs, community choirs and organisations including:

OPERA AND MUSICAL THEATRE

Matthew has arranged, created and facilitated workshops and programmes that enable access to music and theatre.

Opera North’s “After Hours” project was developed by Matthew which allows participants to explore music and themes based around the season’s mainstage operas culminating in a final performance.

He has also created and musically directed a number of “Side by Side” events with Opera North where participants had the opportunity to learn choruses from shows such as “Kiss Me, Kate”, “Trial by Jury” and “Turandot” and then perform these pieces alongside the professional singers of the Opera North Chorus.

Matthew has also been involved as a Musical Director over the last two years for the Lowry Theatre’s: Musical Theatre Showcase which raises money for different charities.

CORPORATE

Matthew was heavily involved in the planning and creating of Opera North’s flagship business workshop “Opera North: Finding Your Voice”.

A workshop which allows businesses to acknowledge, discuss and implement transferable skills from the arts into any other line of work. Matthew created and facilitated the inaugural workshop which will be rolled out throughout the next year.

As a conductor and educator, Matthew has run a number of workplace choirs where his approachable and engaging style has allowed the choirs to feel confident enough to seek performance opportunities at Charity Events, Staff Christmas Parties and community centres around their locations.
